Updating device from script does not trigger plugin

I have various plugins installed in my HS3 instance. This situation exists for all of the plugins so I know it is not just the way a single plug-in was written by the author.

Whenever I change the status of a device through an event, that triggers the plug-in associated with that device to do its thing based upon the new device status. However whenever I update the device status via a script the plugin is not similarly triggered.

I have tried:

hs.setdevicevalue
hs.setdevicestring
hs.setdevicestatus (actually, I couldn't get this one to execute... bug??)


It seems to me that the event is simulating the Press of a control button on the device screen but the script is simply updating the device value behind the scenes and not executing the control.

Is there a different script I should be using which would actually "control" the device and in turn would then trigger the associated plug-in?

I have found a workaround which is to create an event that will re-update the device status ( and thusly trigger the plugin)... but it seems silly that I need to create an event on top of my script. Moreover considering the number of combinations that are potentially involved in all of this it is not realistic for me to do that. It is much easier to write an if statement through a script then having to create hundreds of events.

DIm device not showing

i don't know if i'm doing it right but i want to add a dim device(virtual) to imperihome ,

now i checked and it should add it automatically , but it doesnt show up.
this is checked : Is Dimmable[X] , control use DIM

New zee s2 problems..

Hallo.

I just bought a new Homeseer zee s2 and when i try to set it up but i have two problems that i can't fix.

1. i live in Israel when i set the location to Israel the sunrise and the sunset are wrong and nothing i do will fix it.

2. i can set the network to use static ip every time is set it up it reset to that same ip it was with the the dhcp option.

anyone...?

Hopper Echo integration

So I have integrated voice commands through Alexa/Echo into my AV system including the Hopper. So I can say, Alexa, turn on mute and the TV mutes, or Alexa turn channel thirteen on (or Alexa turn NBC on) and it changes the hopper to channel 13. Or, Alexa turn on pause or turn on resume (play) and the hopper pauses and resumes on voice command. But I have some questions/oddities that you might be able to help with.

The set up - Global Cache wi2ir (the person who set up the ad hoc networking on that devices -- needed for initial set up -- deserves a special place in purgatory), Homeseer Zee 2, Homeseer Echo API skill and Homeseer Global Cache plugin. Each channel/ command is set up as a virtual devices, which is discoverable in Echo's home automation skill. So when I say Alexa turn channel thirteen on - it switches on the virtual device, which triggers an event that send the ir command over to the hopper to change the channel. The virtual resets to off. Everything works great. I have alternate names in Alexa so I can say either channel thirteen or nbc . One trivial annoyance is that the virtual device needs to have the number spelled out in Homeseer - channel thirteen not channel 13. I discovered I only watch 16 channels live on a regular basis. Lots more I record from, but only watch 16 live.

A major BTW - Homeseer great job in creating a product that allows me to do all of this.

So here are issues/questions:


Annoyance, virtual devices send a change status that invokes an event. Mute is a toggle. There is no feedback between the TV and the state of the virtual device since it does not directly control the TV. So if I say turn on mute - it will send the mute toggle to the TV - mute it if there is sound, unmute it if it is muted. I would like more natural speech and say turn off mute. But that will not work because it ts a toggle. I can also create an alternate word in Alexa (which I have - sound) and say Alexa turn on the sound. It works, but any suggestions on virtual devices for those of you who program home automation systems?

Major annoyance, The sun hits my IR blaster between 4 and 7. I have tried to reposition it, but it is in the perfect blast position for all the devices. I will be installing emitters, so that is a cheap alternative - they are around $4. But a major UGGGH.

This was a major achievement for me. My entire house is either automated to uses voice control. When I get to the door, homeseer recognizes my phone and unlocks my door, my lights come on automatically depending on the darkness of the room. I tell my bedroom light to turn off at night and it turns off all the lights in the house, locks the doors and puts power strips into night mood. Being able to have a hands-off experience with the AV system brings me 1 step closer to Star trek computer automation.

How to get forcast days, temp, icons into HSTouch with WeatherXML

Ok, seems like at one time the preferred way was to get forecast data into HST was via the RSS feed. I'm thinking this isn't the best way anymore especially with the option of using WeatherXML.
However, I don't get how to separate devices to hold the data.
All I would like is day/icons/temps for today and the next few days or so.
With WeatherXML I see you can create one device that has it all... but I don't think that works in the designer.

Can someone help me stir me in the right direction?

Frustrating Delays Need Advice

Not sure what happened, but starting last week, all of the sudden my HS3 setup started having massive delays on the lights. Nothing has been touched or changed within the past few weeks, so this had me puzzled. At first I started to think I was having issues with my Zwave, maybe a hardware failure, but started noticing the delays would just happen in general to the whole system. HSTouch wouldn't update, stuff thru Mysensors plugin would be delayed as well. Sometimes the delays are a few seconds, other times its a couple minutes. And then once it catches up, everything appears to have been queued because the lights all of the sudden change, including my motion where they should've turned on and then off in the time span, they do and look really weird.

HS3 Version 3.0.0.283
Windows 10 Pro


Troubleshooting I have done so far:
- Disabled all plugins except zwave to see if that helped and it didn't. I also updated to .90 for Zwave thinking that would do something, no change.

- Thought maybe some hardware failure on the machine. Have a spare computer sitting around (who doesn't?) and did a clean install of windows 10 only and moved HS3 setup to this new machine. Delays followed.

I am not seeing any errors in the logs during the time of delay or anything that pops out on using resources on the machine which seems to hum around 50 percent all the time for proc and mem (4 gigs). Spare machine was similarly speced as well.

Starting to think its the actual install that is corrupted since the problem moved over to the new machine, and I am not looking forward to starting over again if can be avoided. Am I missing something, or other things to check?

GoControl Linear Garage opener stopped working

So the other day my GoControl Linear Garage door opener stopped responding to open/close commands. At first I thought it was a z-wave distance issue, as it's far away from my controller. After a bunch of z-wave debugging I came to the conclusion that is not the case - I can Test Connectivity and an Optimize the device. But when I try to open/close the door I get:

Is it possible to change device status from just ON/OFF to their actual values?

I have some virtual devices like House Status, which are either Home, Away, or Vacation, however ImperiHome just shows it as ON/OFF. Can that be changed as I don't even know what it would be turning on or off.

I tried changing control device under status to Not Specified from ON/OFF but now the device just shows up in italics and still just on or off.

SONOS Speakers freeze

Hi Dirk

I moved away from TTS events as I noticed them to be a little slow instead I use a line-in to one of my Connect Amps from my HS Server.

I then have an event group for each speaker and copy a main speak event which is EAGLE54-HA:DEFAULT
I can then easily setup speech events per speaker by coping this event.

Depending on the speaker - the group actions change ie the group actions for the living room come under the event group for the living room speakers.

The problem is that occasional one or two speakers seem to freeze, i.e you cant select anything to play from the playlist, then you get red lines through the device. Two screens taken whilst this fault has occurred on the bathroom speaker and i am unable to play event, or do anything with the speaker. The only solution I have found which seems to recover it - is restarting the whole sonos plugin.

It also seems random on how many or which speakers and I haven't been able to associate an event or common cause?

Have you any thoughts on what may be wrong?

I'm not even sure if I am causing this by these events - bathroom has three events for speech, an end event and group actions and nothing more.

Have you come across faults like below where you get the red lines through the mute, repeat, shuffle and no matter what you press or select add to playlist - it does not respond? Even if I play something through the actual SONOS app, although that works - the bathroom speaker still is unresponsive?

Plugins not starting HS3

When HS3 starts I am getting lots of command prompt windows, one for each plugin trying to connect to 127.0.0.1, wherever that is and displaying a message Connected, waiting to be initialised

They never do initialise and no plugins working

Anyone any idea what is happening.

Costs as devices? And rates for pulse counters?

Currently I run a script to calculate the 'cost today', 'cost last 7 days' and 'cost last 30 days' and store the results in virtual devices. It's a bit clunky as I'm not a proficient scripter.

Would it be worth considering adding this to UltraECM3? You could use the 'rates' table in UltraECM to calculate the relevant costs. I would find this very useful.

On a related issue, I know there are different billing regimes for different electricity providers. But where I live (New Zealand) there is a fixed daily supply charge and also a unit charge. So $1.48 a day plus usage. Would it be possible to add a daily fixed charge option to the rates tables?

And one more request. Could you consider rates for pulse counters? I use the pulse counters for gas and water metering.

Running Event from Button Push

Is there a way to set a button to run an event if the keypad is off? It turns on from any button push and my idea is to have the F1 and F2 buttons set to start up either Pandora or Spotify. The source and volume are set within the event.

Unable to enable plugin

Hello all,

Installation seems to be ok. When I enable it, I get an error saying:

WARNING: Failed getting InterfaceStatus from Blue-Iris - the interface was not found in the list of active interfaces, the list may need to be refreshed.

I have tried rebooting and re-installing plug-in, with no luck.

The log file shows:

Go directly to the ip camera stream in Imperihome

Is it possible to instead of going to one of the pages on my android phone
I would like to open directly the stream in Imperihome app on my andorid phone.

I have just gone from Vera to Hs3 so I am quite new at this.

In vera I just wrote the ip adr to my phone with the page to the ip camera.
Not the pages in the main screen but the page when I press the camera button in the main page in Imperihome.

Is it possible to do that in the imperihomeplugin in Hs3?

Go to page I got working but not directly open the camera.
I could type in numbers but not IPC_1 that is the page for the camera

Could not remove the network

I transferred my Z-wave network from Aeon Stick to UZB1, and all went well, except an additional network that HS3 asks me to delete - but it won't go away.

How do I get rid of this network?

Is there a way to empty the outgoing e-mail queue

I did a bad thing. Wrote an event to send me an e-mail if a certain device goes offline. It did and generated THOUSANDS of e-mails, which have been queued *somewhere*. G-mail stopped accepting them, so but plucky little HS3 keeps trying to send just the same, filling the log with errors and retries.

Is there a place that I can wipe out the queue of e-mails waiting to be sent?
